With the wilderness as our classroom, we’re inspiring bold futures.
How is Outward Bound unique?
We use the wilderness as our classroom to teach students skills for life. Through challenge and adventure, we help students discover a passion for leadership and a desire to serve. Unlike summer camp, we offer students opportunities for guided reflection and facilitate activities that encourage teamwork, compassion and resiliency. Learn more about our educational approach.
Is Outward Bound right for me?
During our learning expeditions, students are challenged both physically and mentally. You do not need to be an experienced backpacker or hiker, but you do need to be excited and mentally prepared for living and working with others in the backcountry. We are not a wilderness therapy school, and we are unable to support students who currently need intensive counseling support.Learn more about our essential eligibility criteria.
Which program should I choose?
We offer life changing learning expeditions for students ages 12 to 25 in both Colorado and Utah. You will live alongside your crewmates in backcountry settings. Every day, you will work together to set up camp, cook food, and chart your path. We have expeditions all year long, ranging from 8 to 72 days. Learn more about our course offerings.
